July 29, 2016. Experimental Phragmites harvest as a means to lower nitrogen inputs to coastal ponds

We did our first experimental harvest of Phragmites on Chilmark Pond for our EPA funded project yesterday. It was so epically hot and a ton of work, but we had fun and got it all done by 8pm! Allie Ballek and Zach Gordon were just such rockstars I can't explain how grateful I am. They didn't wine or complain and were actually still smiling all the way through to the end. Cold drinks from Rick Karney and some last minute engineering from Isaiah Scheffer totally saved the day. Harvest done!
